Q161 Why does document.referrer not work correctly in Internet Explorer 3.02? It will return the CURRENT page instead of the referring page in 3.02, but works fine in Internet Explorer 4.0 and Netscape. Bug or what?

It was deliberately disabled by Microsoft as they thought it might be used as a security breach,
i.e. to find out where a visitor has just come from. But since that was what it was designed for in the
first place that doesn't seem to have made sense. They have since seen the light and have allowed its
use in Internet Explorer 4.
