Javascipt is a low-end way to go. no security.
Cgi/Asp/Cf or whatever is the best way to go
With Older versions of browsers you can get the .js source, so thats not a very secure way to go.
Sometimes people try to do too much with Javascript.
The real professional sites out there do not use a whole lot of js.
