IRT's predecessor the JavaScript No-Content Web Site had such a JavaScript menu which I adapted for my site map @ www.btinternet.com/~johnbeardy/photography. Another one is at www.leathernet.com. While not trivial, it's not impossible and I'd encourage you to have a go.
