: I received the following question on the HTML FAQ:

: How do I hide my HTML source code and stop the user from viewing it?

: Knowing, that this could start a religious war, I'm wondering, if this is possible?

I've just read about compiled HTML files that Microsoft are distributing with Windows 98. These is where all the text and images for the Help files are delivered as one file in a compressed format.

Even if the person was to use thise to *hide* their HTML code, as sure as eggs are eggs, someone will provide a tool to unpack and examine the contents.

I'm not aware of any effective way of hiding the code.

You might be able to obfuscate the HTML code, so that its hard to tell what going one - but then thats how most people write there code anyway!

Even then you can load the code into an HTML editor and i wouldn't be surprised if it became unobfuscated.
